Harvard University’s 2016 Commencement Exercises opened with an address by Stephen Greenblatt and poet Robyn Schiff. The pair spoke to the newest group of Phi Beta Kappa undergraduate inductees at a mid-morning ceremony. Prof. Greenblatt delivered an address titled “Liberal Arts Education and ‘The Waiting Spring of Intelligence,’” in which he recalled his time studying English at Yale University and his experience being one of the only Jewish students on campus.

The 226th Phi Beta Kappa exercises were held in Sanders Theater on May 24, 2016. For further coverage visit Harvard Magazine.
